The virtuous among us

On Monday, The Hill Times's Abbas Ranna reported former Focus on the Family Canada president Darrel Reid, who was once a "top political aide to former Reform Party leader Preston Manning, will start his new job as chief of staff to Minister (Rona) Ambrose today." So he won't be running for the federal Tory nomination in Richmond. But that doesn't mean Howard Jampolsky will be unopposed. In an interview, Concerned Parents of British Columbia chairman Brian Roodnick confirmed he's "been asked to run for the Conservative nomination in Richmond. There's a group of people that have approached me. And we're taking it under consideration. I think it's likely we'll run."

While I am admantly opposed to the idiocy that is the Corren Agreement, I remain almost equally worried that quality mainstream candidates like Howard are getting challengers put up by the ultra-right Alliance nutbars that remain in control of the Party.

The Corren Agreement is enough, in any other Province, to call for the resignation of the Minister, in this case Oppal. Why are we legislating sexual orientation sensitivity classes? The amount of kids that actually know they're gay or straight or even fully understand one or the other at that age is very small. Once again, we cater to a small minority without any concern that we may be hurting (certainly not helping) the majority. With the amount of functionally illiterate "graduates" coming out of the B.C. public school system, you'd think the government would be more worried about that.

Luv to see the panicking face of the red/former tories..LOL.
I knew this yesterday and trust me, no Richmond tories know how to play politics better than Dr. Alice Wong.:).

After 30 years of leaning to the left, finally Canada is going to the right in lightspeed (in accord with Harper and his cabinet's appointment).
I would like to think that the Thatcher/Reagan golden era has finally come upon us. There is no better time than this for tories to rejoice in the glory of God (j/k) / market freedom. Apparently, Manning's legacy will be carried on.

Right FHK. Alice Wong's fine tuned political skill is evidenced by her spectacular defeat by Raymond Chan.

oh, and GO DARREL GO! (really, he's gotta go)

I also have some problems with the role these two gents will have in curriculum development arising out of a settlement of their human rights case - either the government lawyers thought this was a potential outcome from the H.R. commission or someone decided this was a preferable, "creative" solution ... hmmm

A. Tsak ~ "The amount of kids that actually know they're gay or straight or even fully understand one or the other at that age is very small." What age are we talking about here? Is this from your first-hand experience of kids?

Mine aren't out of grade school yet and know a lot about the birds, bees and begonias, including that some people of the same gender like to live and love and have sex together. And we've been pretty active about explaining it. How is that, done at school or home "certaintly not helping the majority"?

It's a job that belongs at HOME! Most certainly not in school. Bloody hell, what happen to home ec., and woodworking? Something as sacred and sensitive as where a child might choose or have the inclination to put their nether regions doesn't belong in a classroom at such a fragile age. Maybe your kids are advanced. What happened to letting kids be kids? How do you know that the insturctor doesn't go too far?? Will he reasonably explain the begonias or tell it's okay to get your face right in there? How does that translate to a child?

This Corren Agreement is the sleeper idiot piece this Government has agreed to. I am very disappointed and would venture a guess that if you took a survey of most parents, they would feel identically with me.
