Meanwhile, at the hockey rink

Last week, Carolyn Bennett announced she would dropping out of the federal Liberal leadership race and endorsing Bob Rae. But Ms. Bennett's British Columbia campaign coordinator isn't following her former leader. In an interview with Public Eye, Caprice Barbour explained, "I really respect Carolyn's decision and her choices and she made them for all the right reasons for her. But she also made it very clear we were all free to do as we wanted. And really, if anyone hasn't thought of their second, third, fourth choice in that order they're lying to you - even if those who are backing the supposed frontrunners. And Ken was my number two - for a lot of the same reasons Carolyn was my number one. The bottomline is integrity. And he's someone I'm actually excited about." So Mr. Rae doesn't stand for integrity, we quipped? "No. That's not what I meant. I don't have a problem with any of our candidates." But Ms. Barbour said integrity is Mr. Dryden's "standout" quality, describing him as a "Renaissance Man."

Caprice Barbour her self has a lot of class and you have to repect her independance.

Essentially she is saying (correctly) to
her once was candidate:

"You're on your own"

Good for Caprice. Just like Karn Manhas, who was the BC person for Maurizio, she did not fall prey to the "Bob Rae" mystique.

My question is: why are so few of Carolyn Bennett and Maurizio Bevilacqua's supporters following them to Bob Rae?

Can anyone carry their supporters?

Maybe this is going to be true democracy after all.

Cheers to Barbour, but don't lump Manhas in with such a principled person. He followed the call of his master, Marrisen, and likely skittishly returned with his tail between his legs.
But you are mistaken to think that the moves by Bevilacqua and Bennett don't carry weight, if not delegates. Both of them were highly regarded by Dryden, and he's someone who is the next biggest catch.

PLEASE STOP COVERING Lib leadership race.
This is becoming PAINFUL to watch.

Caprice Barbour is an exceedingly principled individual who has some very good organizational skills. Why is it such a shocker that she should be supporting the most decent guy in the race? He won't win, of course, cause he's almost as boring as Jack Layton, but Dryden is by far and away best man in the clan.

For Pete's sake it not like Caprice decided to support my-Hedy is Fried for leader. NOw that would have been painful.

Good for you Caprice.

Have any of you worked with Caprice. She has lost her last four campaigns. Shelly Leonhart, Mary Pyenberg, Sheila Copps, Patrick Wong, and some NPA parksboard commisoner. Bob Rae is lucky not to have her, even Greg Wilson has a better track record.

Not that I have to defend myself or my record but I get annoyed when people can't get things correct. I am proud of working for Shelley, Mary and Sheila as they are certainly women of substance. I however didn't work on Patrick Wong's campaign. I worked for another guy that Mr. Bevedere might have heard of, Wally Uppal. I believe he is now the Attorney General. If you are going to slag someone (and not have the courage to use your own name)please make sure of your facts first.

Well, egg on my face. I do know that Wally's last name is Oppal! One mustn't post without proof reading first.

Sorry Wally.

For once I agree with FHK. And think how more painful it's going to get if the Globe and Mail's poll of Liberal Leadership convention delegates is accurate. It basically indicates a Bob Rae victory since his combined first and second choice support amounts to 41% compared to Iganatief's 31%. For NDPer's like me, it's going to be a riot watching the Liberals wake up to the fact that they have bought, ... er chosen, ... a man whom the entire business and conservative press has been sworn to oppose adn destroy ever since his days as Premier of Ontario. It will be a straight case of a group of wise-guys outsmarting themselves.

Big deal. There's two guys in the BC Liberal HQ who have a worse record and a few more in the federal Liberal office who have a better record.

You might as well keep shipping stories about the upcoming Liberal leadership event. as soon as it's been settled up comes a vote of confidence and Steve and his cronies are back in opposition and we won't have to build a bunch more prisons to keep up with the conservatives latest big deal. Toews is going for three strikes, all Canada needs is one to drop him

There is absolutely nothing I enjoy more than a bruised ego replying to some cheap shot and then having to apologize because her haste to respond showed another short suit.

BTW, has friend Wally got around to dealing honestly and openly yet to that ugly mess up in Burns Lake yet? I do hope he will be as "liberal" as he can in trying to help that small community get over the violent death it suffered of recent.
