No fisticuffs but...

As some of our astute readers may already know, British Columbia's federal Liberal council is scheduled to meet this weekend at the Four Points by Sheraton Vancouver Airport hotel. Of course, chances are that meeting won't be nearly as invigorating as the last - which featured scheduling conflicts and a dust-up between Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca constituency association president Jason Walker and Jim Karygiannis, who was then leadership candidate Joe Volpe's national campaign coordinator. But there are a few newsworthy items on the agenda. Liberal national president Mike Eizinga, vice-president Mike Hillman and party director Steve MacKinnon are scheduled to speak about the red ribbon task force's final report. And it's our understanding council members may be asked to pass a resolution endorsing that report. Although there could be a few amendments thanks to members who have concerns the task force is attempting to centralize power within the party.

There will be also be a presentation from green light committee chair Sharon Apsey. And, during that presentation, it's expected the committee will advise constituency association presidents that - as long as they have money in the bank and candidates willing to run - their nomination meetings will be given the go-ahead, even before a new leader is elected.

there may be a chance to get some accountability or at least heat-lamp pressure on Hillman for the way he forced Van-Kingsway's nomination meeting. instead of permitting a clean race, where all those running would have a month to bring in new members, they allowed for a one-week only notice. Shame on all involved...

Yes, that's what the race needed to be more fair: instant Liberals! I guess the 1100 or so existing Liberals just weren't good enough to be trusted to make the decision.

I am so glad Wendy Yuan is nominated in Kingsway. This lady deserves to win.

Those who have been observing what's going on in this riding during the last two elections would know that it's Yuan and Yuan's team who have been dedicating their time and effort to make sure the seat goes to the Grit...not mentioning the fact that Yuan made room for Emerson to start with...

If our Party does not promote the kind of committment, passion and dedication Yuan and her team have displayed over the years, there would be more opportunitists and so called "star candidates"...and we all know that's exactly what we do not need in Kingsway...

Be happy we had a race in this riding and 50 % of the eligible members turned out and voted...When was the last time we had a nomination meeting in this riding ever?
