Back in August, Public Eye quoted Canadian Blood Services community development coordinator Gary Dhillon as saying he was "definitely considering the possibility of seeking a federal (Conservative) nomination in Newton-North Delta. And I will be revealing my plans in early September." And, today, Mr. Dhillon will making his bid for that nomination official. According to a news release obtained in advance by Public Eye, his campaign slog will be "Our Community - Our Future." The following is a complete copy of that release.
PRESS RELEASE
Gary Dhillon Hopes To Capture Newton-North Delta Conservative Nomination
SURREY - Canadian Blood Services (CBS) Community Development Coordinator Gary Dhillon has officially declared his intentions to seek the Federal Conservative nomination in the riding of Newton-North Delta, which he is certain he will capture with the backing of his growing legion of supporters and well wishers.
For the last three years, Dhillon has been serving the community and building awareness in helping save lives through blood donations. He has been responsible for the recruitment and retention of blood donors within Surrey and Delta to help save patients lives.
Dhillon’s hard work has not gone unnoticed. The Surrey clinic has been nominated three years consecutively in 2004, 2005 & 2006 for Not-for-Profit of the year by the Surrey Chamber of Commerce, and Surrey Board of Trade. The Surrey clinic also is the only clinic in the B.C Yukon Region to have been bestowed that honor.
The Surrey Delta Immigrant Services Society has also nominated the Surrey clinic in 2006 for the Ethnic Diversity award. Gary Dhillon himself was nominated recently for a national award for community excellence within the Delta/Surrey area.
Currently he is working on provincial partnership with a corporate sponsor and various school districts with the mission of educating today’s youth. He feels quite confident that the partnership will go forward. He feels that great things can get accomplished when an entire community pulls together. At the same time he would like to see improvements in criminal justice reform, citizenship & immigration, economic prosperity, educational opportunities, and health care reform.
Dhillon would like to translate his good intentions into great action by implementing old fashion hard work combined of course with passion, persistence, and overall respect for everyone in the community.
Dhillon, who keeps a hectic pace of balancing community work and his devotion to his work at CBS, is a member of the Surrey Chamber of Commerce, and the Surrey Crime Prevention Society. He supports Canadian Blood Services, Surrey Memorial Hospital, and the Surrey Food Bank. He is currently a Director for the Conservative Party of Canada’s Electoral Districts of Newton – North Delta and Vancouver South. He is also the Chair of the Communications Committee, and the Chair of the Outreach Committee respectively. In the private sector he is a Director for Intech Solutions, and a Director for Northwest Blueberries,
Dhillon says his slogan is: “Our Community - Our Future.” For Newton- North Delta - Conservative Party of Canada, Gary Dhillon is the only viable option for a true candidate of the community.
