Racing chairs

Earlier, we noted a number of names were being floated as possible provincial Liberal caucus chair candidates. And now we can report at least three of those names have been calling their colleagues about seeking that post: Mary Polak (Langley), John Rustad (Prince George-Omineca) and John Yap (Richmond-Steveston). The Liberals are scheduled to have their first caucus meeting since the summer break on September 12. The meeting will be a two-day affair. And that's when the caucus chair election will be held.

Really who cares among even the most ardent political watchers. Gordo runs things so who jumps the highest for him gets the extra bucks. If he wants Polack or some other nobodies that persopn will be in for the lolly

Calling? Who calls anymore?

That's boring. Sheesh, none of these MLA's come
up with anything new.

DVD's.. coffee parties.. pamphlets.. heck even
complimentary cookies. Go door to door.

But The Gordomatic does run anything so what
the Caucus Chair will end up being is the puppet
on the knee in Gordo's ventriloquist act.

That may be so after 2001 election, but time has changed. Most of the puppets had decided to stand down. The time of neutrality is a thing of the past and it is time for conservatives to start taking back the power. Carole Taylor and Wally Oppal are nobody's pawns, they just want out of there. Thanks to Oppal, his pro-gay agenda has motivated the tory base more than ever and I hope Mary will have a stronger campaign than the one she had in her nomination fight.

So we see at least one person is pushing for Mary
Polak . Maybe he needs a job. I'm no Campbell fan but if he has any smarts in that direction he should not hand her a platform. Look at the mess she made while chairing the Surrey school Board , all the way to the Supreme Court over a couple of kids books showing two women as parents. Kids are smarter than a lot of politicians. I asked a couple of my grandkids what they thought about gays and lesbians. No big deal said both of them. They go to school with both gays and lesbians and see no issue. Mind you they wouldn't vote BC Liberal or Conservative either

"That may be so after 2001 election, but time has changed. Most of the puppets had decided to stand down."

Gordo has micromanaged the Caucus right from the beginning and has never stopped doing that.

"The time of neutrality is a thing of the past and it is time for conservatives to start taking back the power."

Last time I checked, the BC Liberals were government in B.C. and the Conservatives were government in Canada.

"Carole Taylor and Wally Oppal are nobody's pawns, they just want out of there."

Not true. Carole Taylor definately in there for
the long haul. Expect her to level off as Finance Minister for awhile longer. She knows the game and will level off and ride it out until
2011 when she'll run for the leadership after Gordo steps down. Gordo's people will run her campaign.

"Thanks to Oppal, his pro-gay agenda has motivated the tory base more than ever and I hope Mary will have a stronger campaign than the one she had in her nomination fight. "

A bit odd there. Dosen't reflect the majority
of Conservatives out there.

being a bit homophobic aren't you?

The BC Liberals like to have their cake and eat it too on issues around gay and lesbian rights. They want Lorne Maynecourt to be seen as OKay by the West End electorate, and they want Fraser Valley MLAs like Mary Pollak to be able to take a somewhat different approach. A for no one to complain. It's one of the lessons in professional political image management that they have learned from the Federal Liberal Party, the party of both Tom Wappel and Hedy Fry.

To Breathlessly waiting:
I dunno, I always like to know which one of my elected representatives is receiving and extra 9 grand per year. And to think, the caucus chair would have received 24 grand if Carole James hadn't balked!
