Mason lays foundation for candidacy

Earlier, we reported former United Chinese Community Enrichment Services Society chairman Mason Loh was still contemplating whether to file his nomination papers to run in Vancouver-Kingsway. And now, Public Eye has learned Mr. Loh has submitted those papers and is now waiting for the green light committee to approve his candidacy. He'll be running against businesswoman Wendy Yuan.

Well a dose of democracy would be good for Vancouver Kingsway.

Well a dose of democracy would be good for Vancouver Kingsway.

A dose of democracy would be good for the Party.

The appointment of candidates by the leader has to end.

Ok here are my predictions.
1.Wendy Yuan will win Vancouver Kingsway nomination
2.Scott Brison cut a deal with Marissen, Young and Bornman to
have all the Dion, Kennedy and Dryden delegates cross over to him on the second ballot.
3.Bob Rae will drop out on the third ballot and release his delegates, most of whom will go
over to Ignatieff.
4. Hedy Fry, Caroline Bennett and Martha Hall Findley will all go over to Brison.
5. Realizing Volpe won't support him, Ignatieff will throw his support behind Maurizio
Bevilacqua. Volpe will also cross over to Maurizio.
6. Brison will defeat Maurizio by 6 votes on the 6th ballot at 6 in the morning and become the new Liberal party leader.
7. Stephen Harper will call a snap election and Liberals will lose all their seats except
Vancouver Center and Vamcouver Kingsway.
8. Wendy Yuan will become the new Liberal party leader.
9. Opposition leader Jack Layton and Gilles Duceppe will combine to bring down Stephen Harper's
minority government.
10. Tired of minority governments, Canadians will give Liberal leader Wendy Yuan a majority government
making her Canada's first Chinese woman prime minister.

Remember folks, you read it here first!

Zoltan:

Up until I read your thoughts above I was completely against giving free crack to the addicted as a form of "therapy".....clearly I may have to warm up to this idea since you have now provided the world with evidence that there may indeed be something beneficial to this initiative...good luck in recovery...

Mr. Tsakumis

You wouldn't happen to have any extra invitations to Mark Marissen's 40th birthday party next week? For some reason my invitation hasn't arrived yet. Rumour has it the funky bunch has bought a special paddle to give Marky Mark his birthday spanking and I sure wouldn't want to miss that.

Mr. Tsakumis

Enjoyed following your attempts to help first nations citizens to choose a suitable leader. Thank you for taking that burden upon yourself.

Boy, it sure is nice to laugh out loud once in a while...thanks, "Bruce"...I just turned forty myself, my best to Mark on his 40th. At least he looks younger than his years...I on the other hand could get a gold bus pass with little problem if my hair would just go a little grey
:-))))

Hal, it was an honour to support Bill Wilson for Chief. He is an extraordinary man who cares very deeply about First Nations issues and the interplay between the causes of aboriginal peoples of this land and our Government. Phil Fontaine is a good man also, and I sincerly hope that he will best represent his people to Ottawa. Native and First Nations issues have been of great interest to me since I was a young student in university, and when presented with the chance to endorse and support Bill, I leapt at the opportunity.

It was no burden at all. It was an honour.

Mason Loh? What's with all this second rate candidates vying to be a candidate for an election to becoem a backbencher MP. Once in Ottawa, he or she wil just be sitting like a good kid in the backbench like Sophia Leung waiting to be embarassed in the next election as she/he steps aside for a star candidate to run in their place. I think I would rather lose

So, Wendy Yuan or Mason Loh will be the new David Emerson, eh? Fine. Are either of them willing to make a binding, written committment that if they are elected and then decide to change parties, that they will resign and seek the approval of the voters in a byelection? Obviously not, I would suggest.

Didn't Mason Loh make an unsuccessful bid for a reform party nomination in the 1990's before joining the Liberals to run in Van East in 2000?

Mason Loh is all about Mason Loh, not the Liberal Party. Wendy Yuan, on the other hand, along with Sophia Leung, stepped aside for David Emerson, and remained loyal to the Liberal Party throughout. She recruited volunteers for Emerson and Dosanjh, raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Liberal Party, and became a valued member of the Liberal Party of Canada (BC) executive.

If anyone would cross the floor to the Tories, it would be Mason.

Wendy? Not in a million years.

"She recruited volunteers for Emerson and Dosanjh ... "

ROTFLMAO!!! Did the real Wendy Yuan post this? If so, you have a great sense of humour. You eagerly helped two (2) party switchers, and that, according to you, is proof you would never switch parties yourself!

Posted by Budd Campbell on July 24, 2006 11:06 AM

She recruited volunteers for both of them as a Liberal. She has never been associated, and never would, with another political party. Emerson switched after getting elected as a Liberal. Dosanjh switched levels of government and there is no federal Liberal Party on the provincial stage. Apples and oranges.
