Further news about tomorrow's Vancouver City Caucus Meeting: according to our operatives, federal International Trade Minister David Emerson will join Premier Gordon Campbell for an early morning appearance at that get-together, which is being organized by the mayor's office. And there seems to be some disgruntlement among elected officials about the limited amount of discussion time scheduled at that meeting, which is set to happen after Minister Emerson and the premier have left the room. Said one, "I feel like we're being controlled. I don't understand why (the meeting) isn't open to the media and the public. Are they going to impose a confidentiality agreement on us to? I don't like this."
Am I the only one who finds it unspectacular that a Minister of the Crown should want a private meeting with the elected Council of a major city?
A closed caucus meeting? What an outrage!
... maybe if you put your name on a list and submit it to Emerson ...
"... maybe if you put your name on a list and submit it to Emerson ..."
LOL... but slightly misdirected; you have to have permission to get the list from Mr. Harper's office first and then return to same, who then edits the list and maybe forwards to Emerson... and definitely will not forward if are national press or work for any "lefty" new agency or any associated press or not part of the daily news call from the PMO or expect press documents more than 5 minutes before interview time or if generally you want to ask your own questions on topics of interest to your readers. You can, on the other hand, just print whatever the government gives you to print... no questions asked.
The individual responsible for that statement regarding being controlled, Sean, is a newbie prima donna with little appreciable understanding of what needs to be discussed.
Break free of your chains girl, whoever you are!
The real story is how the Mayor's office has alloted just less than an hours discussion with two dozen people in the room, including the Premier, who might have a thing or two to say, and the Mayor, who will have at least three things to say, two of which will be gift wrapped fodder for Allen Garr's next column and the last of which will be some off the wallism that Danny and particularly Annie will fumble with until the next premature exaggeration from Mr. Misfire.
...just wondering how long before the sound of distant cannons clearing their "throats" makes it to twelfth and Cambie...it's now just gotten beyond ridiculous. How many more media/pr screw ups can we endure???
What a shocker! Sullivan's office screwed up again? Look at all the press coverage after the Vancouver Caucus took place--all bad. The overriding sentiment is that Sullivan has no message, no plan and is flying by the seat of his pants. Check that against his strong and forceful ways during the campaign. The Vancouver caucus is a good idea, but poorly conceived. One hour for all those people to speak?
It's all Sullivan's fault anyway. In one of the most simplistic approaches by a politician in recent memory to soften his own image, Sullivan went from the conservative big guns that helped him win, to hiring people for his office that are so far beyond where they ever were before that of course they have no idea how to manage a plan, if one exists, or the man. It's so obvious.
What pr screws up are you talking about red pants?? There hasn't been any media/pr relations coming out of the mayor's office since he became mayor!
Please allow me to introduce myself
Im a man whose too stealth but not too chaste,
Ive been around for a long, long year
Stole many a mans vote and faith
And I was around when de Genova
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Holden
Washed her hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around last winter
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the Jabba and his spin-minister
Jamie Lee screamed in vain
I rode in the Tory tank
But held no generals rank
When the Marissens raged
And the diesel stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name,
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my end game
I watched with glee
While your campaign queens
Fought for what seemed like ten decades
With the board they made
I shouted out,
Who killed Lynne Kennedy?
When after all
It was her, not me
Let me please introduce myself
Im a man of some wealth, but great haste
And in April I allowed my staff to lay traps for my old troubadours,
Who got killed before they could save me at my own gate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you've guessed that I'm now a laugh,
Ah, what's not puzzling you
Is that it's cause of some really useless staff
