Accounting for everyone

Earlier, we reported Order of Canada recipient and former provincial New Democrat MLA Bernie Simpson had "ruled out" running for the federal Liberal nomination in Vancouver-Kingsway. But British Columbia's former Liberal minister of state for immigration and multicultural services Patrick Wong is entertaining the notion. In an interview with Public Eye, Mr. Wong said "Several people did approach me" about running for the nomination "but I haven't made up my mind yet." However, he added, "I just got back to my normal life" as the managing partner at accounting firm Wong, Robinson & Co. "and I have to consult my wife" before making any decision about entering the race.

Partick Wong was a hard working representative in my provincial riding. He did alot of good for our local Neighbourhood house. He would make a great MP.

Partick Wong? Name one thing he has done for Kensington.

rush in fools for the gold...obviously everyone wants to run in this riding, it is a deadlock for liberal next time. But Emerson has a PHD so watch for a "huge" surprise from him that sends shockwaves throughout the impeach emerson campaign. This is money in the bank that Emerson wins his seat as a Conservative next election.

"This is money in the bank that Emerson wins his seat as a Conservative next election."

LOL! Really, Mr Belvedere, surely you don't expect anyone to take this seriously, do you?

Emerson will run next time in Vancouver Quadra or a North Shore seat. He won't waste himself in a Charge of the Light Brigade against a fully energized NDP campaign, and the Liberals have no hope of doing the "vote strategic" scam in this riding again, not after their strategic voting token/star candidate walked away on them last time.

"Emerson will run next time in Vancouver Quadra or a North Shore seat."

Don't bet your house on that one.

Emerson can easily go with another option.

Not run again and enjoy something else.

Okay, sure, that's a possibility too. What's not really a possibility is his running successfully again as a Tory in Vancouver Kingsway. If he did decide to give it a try, no doubt the Conservative vote would be up substantially, because they are now the party in power. However, I don't think it would be enough to win, and consequently the NDP would prevail at the expense of the Liberals.

Liberals just don't seem to realize that a Liberal Party out of power is a Liberal Party bereft of its main product line.

If you are speculating about who the liberals will run in Vancouver Kingsway, don't count out the name of Gerard Kennedy, who has been thinking of running in a Western riding once he becomes party leader for the next election.

Posted by guess who on June 10, 2006 04:01 PM

Why would Kennedy want to steal one of the best seats in BC for the Liberal Party? British Columbians want a strong voice in Ottawa, they don't want a strong Ottawa voice in BC.

>>> Sure Jas, I can name more than one: Mr. Wong, during his tenure in office, has had funding secured for the South Vancouver Policing Centre, South Vancouver Neighbourhood funding, held coffee and donut dialogue sessions with the constituents he represented, offered support and resources when the Khalsa school near the Memorial South Park went on fire, secured the funding needed for a new sports facility in the riding, as well as visiting seniors. Isn't that enough proof already?
