Hedy times

Cocktail federal Liberals (Martini and otherwise) are in for a busy week. Tonight, former Ontario premier Bob Rae will be attending a reception at the landlocked Princess Mary Restaurant in Victoria - having already made a campaign swing through the Lower Mainland yesterday. And, tomorrow, fellow leadership candidate Gerard Kennedy makes his first Garden City appearance at the Victoria Events Centre. Other Kennedy campaign events include a Vancouver breakfast meeting at the party's British Columbia headquarters and a scratch and sniff event in Nanaimo hosted by former Nanaimo-Cowichan candidate Lloyd Macilquham. Meanwhile, as reported by CKNW earlier this morning, Vancouver Centre MP is set to announce her intent to run for the Liberal leadership at the Vancouver Rowing Club this Thursday. The following are copies of the internal emails announcing those events.

This is neither intended nor should be interpreted as an endorsement or support of any particular candidate for the upcoming leadership race in the Liberal Party of Canada but rather a chance to meet and help form the debate to ensure BC issues are front and centre. We think it is important to have an open dialogue about the future of our Party and who should lead it.

Good to see you last night at Bob Rae's event. Yeah for Hedy! This will make the race way more interesting.

My impressions of Bob - too fuzzy, not enough vision. Also, easy for him to say - don't criticize other candidates - when I believe he has the most to lose from this.

And those big white buttons? Is this a good statement about the use of resources?

My gosh you figure Bob Rae is fuzzy yet say Yeah for Hedy. Heady was made famous for talking in the house, about folks buring crosses up in the interior, when no crosses where being burned. But yes she will make it interesting as she appears to be a bit of a wing nut. I'm no Liberal but figure she simply can't be the best they can come up with for leader.

Hedy Fry is running because she figures she can get back into cabinet.

Hopefully our party can elect someone much better than her, but the pickings for potential leaders is prety thin.

Come on, is that all you have? Burning crosses! Give me a break, that was 6 years ago and she was wrong about the town. Hate crimes are alive and well across Canada and in BC, in fact the Globe gives more details

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20060502.wxliberals02/BNStory/National/home

but I believe the KKK Grand wizard was arrested in the BC interior shortly after her comments. She'll make this race very interesting, at least she's a real Liberal.

Gerard Kennedy seems destined to be the Liberal party's version of Stockwell Day. All potential, photo ops and jet skis. Likely no ability to contribute.

Jenn, whatever you're smoking... I want some.

Posted by garth on May 3, 2006 09:07 AM

gee, I would vote for her but I can't get out my front door as they are "burning crosses" on front lawns in my neighbourhood as we speak......this woman has aboutas much credibility as George Bush...........none!
