They come in peace

It seems the federal Conservative mothership has abducted another provincial Liberal staffer. Beaming up to the minister's regional office is Transportation Minister Kevin Falcon's constituency assistant Andrea Smith, who will now be serving as the special assistant to Natural Resources Minister Gary Lunn. Ms. Smith's duties will also include communications responsibilities at the regional office. She's married to Warren Smith, who served as the official agent for Sam Sullivan's mayoral campaign.

Working for Gary Lunn is a "beaming up" career improvement, for cryin' out loud?

I can't imagine anyone actually working for Garry Lunn of all people. He survives as a MP because up to now he has spent more time going from one right wing party to another. It was great to see him weasle his way into the new conservative gang after leaving whatever they were called before. One hopes the woman enjoys her stay.

Smart as a whip, she is.

Falcon's loss for sure. Lunn is the big winner here. He gets a very put-together player (and for one so young!) and highly intelligent, able assistant.

Quite a little power couple: husband's a knight of the Morton's rountable, and the wife leaves a future candidate for Premier, for a stab at working in a challenging federal minstry.

Gotta hand it to the Tories, they're following the King/Pearson/Trudeau/Mulroney examples: no matter what your candidate says or does or how great he appears, he's got some real weaknesses--surround the Government with the best you can get--just in case.....this is a further example of why Trudeau (II & III), Campbell, Chretien and Martin didn't survive (regardless of electoral "success" or "failure", whatever those mean anymore)--because all the users surrounding them were there for themselves.

You have to really be able to take a bullet, not go through the motions.

Afterall, we can't all have a utility belt.
