Power versus principle?

Tonight, on Public Eye Radio, Martha Hall-Findlay discusses her campaign to be leader of the federal Liberals. Mark Podlalsy, a policy chair from the Grit's renewal commission, talks about how the party can use the Internet to win the next election. And we'll speak with Global Medical Services Ltd. president Allan Holmes about pandemic preparedness in British Columbia. Also on the show: progressive journalist Murray Dobbin, NOW Communications Inc. president Ron Johnson and rabblerouser Brad Zubyk debate whether the New Democrats were right to not attack the Conservatives in the last election. Former Socred research director George Gibault will be in studio to give his take on the connection between youth poverty and youth political apathy. And Darrell Evans, executive director of British Columbia's Freedom of Information and Privacy Association, sounds off about the latest Campbell administration threat to openness and accountability in the provincial government. The Victoria Times Colonist's Les Leyne wrote a column in Saturday's paper.

While Leyne touches on the P3 angle, he misses the link to the BC Labour Code. One of the BC Liberal changes to the BCLC was that if a company pleaded poverty to do some dasdardly deed to a union, then the union had a right to look at the companies books to verify the information - I have never heard of that part of the BCLC being used. Now the BC Liberals have signed contracts with community health & social service workers that allow for more contracting, but this new bit of omnibus legislation effectively eviscerates the unions right to examine an employer's books for chicanery.
