Dion: The Next Generation

Stephane Dion's federal Liberal leadership bid will soon be receiving supporting fire from a brigade of kiddie commandos in British Columbia. According to our operatives, next week will see the official launch of the BC Youth for Dion campaign - which is being co-chaired by former University of Victoria campus club president Lorne Phipps and Mia Taghizadeh, who was the women's representative on the Young Liberal's provincial executive. It is expected similar campaigns will be mobilized in other provinces.

A woman's representative within the Young Liberals Exective? Is this "affirmative action" or what? Women can play politics in the sandbox just as good as the boys without someone needing to represent us.

Women's commission representative. There are lots of women in the Young Liberals who are not necessarily part of the women's commission. Mia knows how to play in the sandbox like nobody's business.

Dion has the south island completely sewed up on the youth front - everyone who matters is onboard at UVic.

Good for Dion, the best thing he can hope for is a crushing defeat at the polls in spring 2007 anyways.

As for the women's representative business, we're all far too familiar with the tokenization of female participants in the Liberal young boy's club. I'm usually not a big fan of affirmative action but the Liberals need as much of it as they can get.

Lorne really has no interest in politics any more. The only person who will listen to Mia is Doug. Dion is off to a false start.

"Dion has the south island completely sewed up on the youth front - everyone who matters is onboard at UVic."

Wrong. Everyone who matters at UVic supports Stephen Harper.

Only those in some kind of dreamland support
Dion.

"Everyone who matters at UVic supports Stephen Harper."

There are Tories at UVic? Who knew? :P

BC Youth for Dion.. hahaha.. well, i guess he needs someone for him in BC. Figure Iggy's got all the Adults cornered already..

CKNW reports that Dion is the frontrunner for Liberals in BC. But I hear Iggy's got all the elitists cornered - you know, the ones who go to the Union Club and attend receptions in mansions. God bless them.

Can you smell what Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch are cookin'?!

You gotta love Marissen. Sets the house on fire that he now says only he can rebuild. Isn't this the same opening formula that he used with Martinites: sign up all the rabid, star-struck university Gritty kiddies to fill delegate spots and whip up some shrill support for the candidate?

Then when Kennedy (closely followed by Iggy) wins, what happens?

Oh, silly me, must by playing with my decoder ring too much, that'll be about the time Spiderman will have to start really flapping his gums, since his first courtroom yapping will come during delegate selection!

Yup, sounds about right, for in as much as the Grits say they hate Harper, they are his best friends.....wrap it up baby, Stephen Harper, four more years, four more years......

As opposed to the ones that attend secret receptions at duplexes?

"CKNW reports that Dion is the frontrunner for Liberals in BC."
This is completely not true.

Please people, save yourself time and energy and stop pretending the Liberal leadership race counts for anything. It's the biggest phoney war ever... battling for the right to be a footnote in Liberal Party history next to Paul Martin.

Posted by Andrew McVie on April 27, 2006 08:31 AM

It's all a power play. Mark Mariessen wants his cushy job.

Dion won't have the numbers in B.C. for the party to carry the win. Besides Dion will be labelled with the Martinites and having
Boudrais won't help either. Boudrais was one of the worst things besides Shelia Copps to happen in our party.

We need someone fresh and new. Start from the ground up.

Mark Marissen, Christy and Bruce Clark have had their time and now its time for new people with new ideas.

McVie, I would be surprised if people still listened to your ramblings. And UVic is by no means sewn up by the Dion camp. There are many members of the UVic club there, (and I mean people who do stuff for the Liberals, not just a name on a paper), who are still undecided. I wouldn't take for granted UVic support if I were Dion.
