Red letter dates

Last Friday, The Vancouver Courier's Pat Johnson noted the Non-Partisan Association's annual general meeting will coincide this year with the first night of Passover when "Jewish families all over the world come together, not in a conventional place of worship, but at the family table, to re-enact the Exodus from enslavement via a ritual meal filled with ancient symbolism." Not surprisingly, this has been the source of some concern within the Jewish community. Letters about the issue have reportedly been written to the Canadian Jewish Congress. And it is expected the congress will be sending the association a reminder about the upcoming holiday.

It was a scheduling mistake, no question......

But it wasn't the NPA Mayoral candidate that disgustingly trotted out Hitler and the Jews during the last election, as some supposedly apt analogy that was to sink into the NPA's electoral heart.

Nope, that (dis)honour was reserved for none other than Jim Green, who commited himself to such a contemptible act. Nice move Jabba the Hut pulled there.

The NPA has a VERY longstanding and appropriate respect of the gallant Jewish people.

None of our candidates or elected officials have ever been anything but respectful.

You cannot say the same for COPE/VV.

The NPA made an honest mistake as a result of an oversight, with apologies.

That's the real story.

Shalom.

And tell us, Once Again (aka Alex T.), who made that scheduling mistake?
