Federal Conservatives made much ado about the Liberal's "culture of entitlement" during the recent election campaign. So how can the Grits change that perception? How about by booking their leadership receptions at private clubs? Because that's exactly what Ivy Leaguer Michael Ignatieff will be doing on March 31, when he schmoozes with Garden City Grits at The Union Club of British Columbia, which describes itself as being "home to generations of leaders in commerce, industry and government" who have "helped to determine the economic and political course of the city, the province and indeed the country." Meanwhile, in related travel news, it is our understanding fellow leadership contenders John Godfrey and Belinda Stronach will be coming back to British Columbia next week.
Locked in the ivory tower?

Union Club. Gordon Gibson's house. Ignatieff has been away for Canada for 30 years. Makes sense. They were the hotbeds of high-brow liberalism in the early 70's.
The people who run this country won't be found there. They drive trucks, have mullets, and hang out at the Sasquatch Inn. Not a bunch of highbrow calf-brain and duck-liver eating Liberal freaks.
"...duck-liver eating"?
Say Dagmar, yesterday I stopped in at our local organic market and for $3.49 I got a dozen farm eggs that were actually a mix of chicken and goose eggs. Great stuff!

Stephen Harper talked down Canada for nearly 30 years and now his summer job is being PM.
How does having an international acedemic career really hurt Ignatieff's chances with voters?
I don't blame Ignatieff for having an international academic career. I am only pointing out that his knowledge of the Liberal Party in British Columbia looks like it is 30 years old. I would have thought Iggy would have updated his black book by now.
Gordon Gibson was a fellow Young Liberal with Iggy and Rae when most active Liberals around today weren't even born. And that was probably the last time Gibson could reliably be characterized as a "Liberal".
Wonder if Gibson will write a damning column about the Liberals for the Globe only days after hosting Iggy at his house.
Soon he'll be locking Stephen Harper out of the peace tower.
