Medical association, hurt thyself

Tonight, on Public Eye Radio, we'll be chatting with former Canadian Medical Association Journal's editorial board member Dr. P.J. Devereaux about ongoing controversy at the magazine. Former Financial Post editor and Liberal cabinet minister John Godfrey will be discussing his bid to become Paul Martin's successor. Provincial New Democrat forest and range critic Bob Simpson is coming into the studio to talk about the appointment Roger Harris as the province's new forest safety ombudsman. And our regular panel of rabblerousers - Mike Geoghegan, Bill Tieleman and Allan Warnke - will be discussing the week that was in federal and provincial politics. From where I am sitting (in a big pile of Tar Sand) the Harris move is a great one. It a serious issue (I think 24 deaths in 2005 )

I worked with him for 2 years and (without being too much of a sycophant) he is a good , honest man who cares about loggers and the industry in general .

He has worked in the forestry business most of his adult life and knows the dangers involved

Bob Simpson (although I think he is actually one of the smartest MLA's in the NDP Caucus) will likely portray this as a payoff for a losing candidate. I dont see it that way at all . Harris has cabinet and real world experience that will help worked to resolving this tough issue

Good move by the Premiers offce !

I never met the man and have only a few small questions. Who does he report to? Does he really have any authority to get things done? From what Little Ive' read his salary which isn't that large is a great percentage of the deal he is supposed to be running. Is it a job which really can't get anything fixed. Over to the experts on the guy and the position
