It turns out Stephane Dion won't be the only supposed federal Liberal leadership candidate parachuting into Vancouver this weekend. Also said to be attending the party's British Columbia president's council will be Carolyn Bennett, Joe Fontana and Joe Volpe (although Mr. Volpe hasn't yet given any official notice concerning his visit). Meanwhile, in what is purely a fascinating coincidence, Sheila Copps (who is presently suffering from a broken leg) will be in Terminal City on Friday as the keynote speaker for the Canadian Women Voters Congress's campaign school.
Good old Joe has been nominated by the Canadian Federal taxpayers Association
1. Walk the Bar Tab -- Nominated For “Worst Taxpayer Film of the Year”
In a world where money is no object because other people are paying, taxis are free and there is always wine with dinner, Joe Volpe is right at home. For a time things were great for Joe. Staffers called Volpe a “grazer” because of his penchant for eating several taxpayer-funded restaurant meals a day. On March 21, 2005, Volpe and friends dined at Allegro to the tune of $507.39. Just a few hours later they ate again at an Italian restaurant for $80.14. Volpe also spent $138 on pizza for two one night and $207 a few nights later on pizza for three. In just a few short months Volpe and his staff racked up more than $60,000 in travel and hospitality. But Joe’s wild ride takes a sudden turn at the film’s end when the gravy train is halted in the station by angry taxpayers in January 2006
I noticed an item on TV last evening. Belinda was practicing her French, they mentioned another possible contender for leader was about to start French lessons as well( I missed his name as I was more interested in listening to Belinda.) So why not Belinda? she is rich and smart enough to drop Peter Mckay and the right wing bunch of Harper and Day. My Gosh that sounds like a law firm that chases ambulances
Will Bennett, Fontana or Volpe be attending the Stephane Dion reception at Christy's place?
its gonna be between stronach, brison and the italian stallion Volpe (so, i guess he likes his pizza), they are the only people with a solid ground team
Now Joe Volpe, there's a Liberal that I like. Memo to Volpe -- you're in the wrong party, buddy, join the NDP!
Rumour has it Ken Dryden is the other Lib hopeful taking French lessons. Go KEN!
Oh, how I like this bunch of Liberal leadership candidates. It's no wonder David Emerson came home. Who would want to be party to this fiasco.
