Genesis?

Last week, in an interview with the Ottawa Citizen's James Gordon, Canada's top cop Stockwell Day suggested he would be looking into creating an America-style armed border patrol. That proposal is similar to recommendations included in a report commissioned back in 2005 by the Customs Excise Union Douanes Accise, the labour group representing those guards. And, in what surely is simply a stunning coincidence, that report was authored by The Northgate Group Corp. - the recent home of Scott Newark who is now working as a senior advisor to...er...Minister Day.

An armed border patrol is just what we need. I used to bounce at a bar in my younger days and my philisophy was always to stop the problems before they come in the door. We need to beef up an armed presence at borders, ports and airports, basically any port of entry.

Great idea, it should costs a bunch of money so maybe we won't be getting a tax cut anytime soon.

and sicne in BC alone we are supposed to be getting an extra 200 cops or so why can't they hang around the border now and again.

In my opinion, tax cuts aren't needed as much as cops and border guards. As a guy with a strong social conscience, I can't stomach a tax cut until the people who fight fires, crime and wars are paid properly. And we have to win the war on terror too. In my opinion, more police and more armed border guards are exactly what we need to stop terrorists and drug traffickers before they get into Canada.
