This morning brings another Website promoting the recall of turncoat David Emerson - although this one appears to have been shined with more spot and polish. Of course, we would expect nothing less given that the domain is registered to Anna Strom of Convergence Strategies and Communications Inc., whose principal is esteemed rabblerouser Michael Magee.
Just a question, how come the Kingsway Liberal constituency is asking for 97K back in funding when the spending limit is 79K.
Did they just admit breaking the law?
Pre-writ spending does not count against the limit.
Good question on election costs overrun. But let's not forget the new Law boss for the cons got caught doing just that and paid a small fine for doing so. Part of the cost of doing business. Of course he said he was sorry, but was he sorry to have gotten caught or having to pay the fine.
as for pre writ costs. This election was known by all to be coming as the last government was due to fail. So just how soon before the writ was dropped was the money spent and how much of it fell under that condition ? Might be an interesting court case.
Just heard The Prime Ministers Director of Communications, William Stairs, on CBC's Politics say that: Mr. Emerson decided to cross the floor "rather than wasting his time in opposition."
That's right - the Prime Minister's office just called being in opposition a waste of time. Who needs democracy?!
I think the problem is the BC political culture.
Here, we have coalition politics - Liberals and Conservatives working under one tent.
Everywhere else in Canada, it's the Hatfields and the McCoys.
Emerson doesn't get Canada. He should come back to BC and do something good with himself.
harry, I think you are correct. Surely there's nowhere else in Canada where you can lift the lid off a provincial Liberal Party and find not just BC Liberals but also old Socreds, old Reform, old C.C.R.A.P., old Alliance, old Greens?
Maybe this atmosphere of deal-making, sell-outs and corruption, made it easy for David Emerson to quickly find his way home to the Conservatives -- where W.A.C. Bennett started.
Doesn't even begin to mean that Emerson was right to do that, though.
most people do not realize that emersons flip flop is nothing more than pure politics ;;;re;rubbing salt in the wounds,, payback whatever.it,s nice to see the people on the other side,,[this time]crying blue murder....let ,s move on,,,,,nic
Harper should spend more time fishing for seats, one down, 30 to go. Now that's something you'd have to respect. Wonder what kind of favour budget he'd need? Maybe he'd get a couple just calling as the Prime Minister "Your country needs you!"
I just came across this new Emerson site... very articulate raw betrayal from a young woman. Even if you don't agree with her, its worth a read.

Yes harry, in BC David Emerson got used to the idea of Grit-Tory coalition politics and the media and the bloggers won't forgive him for exposing the superficial nature of the cosmetic struggle between Red and Blue packaged parties.
