Back in October, while commenting on the United Steelworkers of America's opposition to de-affiliation, The Vancouver Sun's Vaughn Palmer referred to the union's district three director Steve Hunt as "Mr. Brontosaurus." And now it appears some labour movement members are working hard to change that prehistoric descriptor from an insult to a badge of honour. Public Eye has noticed a number of unionists sporting dinosaur stickers on their provincial New Democrat convention delegate passes. And we're told British Columbia Federation of Labour secretary-treasurer Angie Schira has affixed two small plastic dinosaurs to the shoulders of her shirt.
Even with the recent changes to voting delegates made at the convention, the BC NDP still has along we to go before it is not seen as being in bed with big labour. Some socialist parties like the Manitoba NDP or British Labour Party have completely severed ties with organized labour, but I cannot see that happening in BC as organized labour is just too powerful. It will also be interesting to see if Carole James can keep both moderate MLAs such as Gregor Robertson, Mike Farnworth, and David Cubberley happy while at the same time pleasing the radical MLAs such as David Chudnovsky, Harry Lali, and Leonard Krog.

Miles, either you are completely ignorant of what you're talking about, or else you're just making things up. The Manitoba party still has structural ties to labour as you well know. And in BC, even before these changes, which put the entire BC NDP membership and representation onto an individual membership basis, the party's funding was two thirds to three quarters based on contributions from individuals. That fact can be verified by refering to the data publicly available from Elections BC. Your empty speculations to the contrary are just fabrications.
Your descriptions of Chudnovsky, a teacher and and therefore a professional, Krog a lawyer, and Lali, who has never been a major labour official as representatives of some radical union wing of the NDP shows just how utterly devoid of factuality of even basic honesty these kinds of screeds really are.
