The power of positive thinking?

Do you remember our good federal Liberal friend Jag Dhanowa? Of course you do. He's the guy who's running against former provincial backbencher Sheila Orr for the party nomination in Saanich-Gulf Islands. But did you know Mr. Dhanowa is also a mind-bending psychic with the power to see into the future? After all, why else would his Saanich Plaza campaign office/victory bunker be plastered with signs reading "JAG DHANOWA Liberal candidate for Saanich-Gulf Islands www.jagdhanowa.ca" - even before that nomination meeting (set for high noon today at Lochside Elementary School) has happened.

Is this the same Jag Dhanowa who was co-conspirator of the worst press conference in history?

Quick, call the Prime Minister! Jag Dhanowa may not have enough tables and chairs for this!

My ESP senses tell me that this race is close. There is a funeral of a well respected member of the Indo-Canadian community in Vancouver which will take away votes from Jag. I understand that many people on the Liberal Party voters list will be attending.

I believe that Shelia will win by a margin of 15-30 votes.

You heard it here first!

Amar is the prescient one as that is exactly what happened. Secondly Scott forgets that the January 2003 news conference he refers to succeeded in getting the media to completely back off from its Bob Russell inspired attack on the Indo-Canadian community and finally I suspect that Jag's decision on the wording of his signs had less to do with any psychic ability than the desire to be frugal!

Mike, You are an idiot. You have no idea what you are even talking about. Im sure that everyone on the riding exec is really proud to have a moron like you there.

I can't understand who is operating the phones and desktops at the Liberal boiler room.

Granted, we do have an entry here from disgraced former construction lobbyist Mike Geoghegan on behalf of the Liberal Party. But where are the entries from fellow Liberals Bernard Von Schulmann and Steve Hopkins (aka Mr Shirley Chan)???

Mike, how can you defend that press conference? I know you organized it, but even the most egotistical person can recognize when his brain-child fails miserably.

Posted by Scott on November 21, 2005 09:04 AM

Mike, I will give you one thing, you sure are a real magnet when it comes to opinion. People either love you or hate you!! I don't know what it is about BC politics but we sure seem to attract a lot of colourful people. John, I think the "idiot" comment is stretching it. Call Mike colourful, misinformed or wrong, from what I know about the guy he is not an "idiot".

As for the press conference, I have seen worse!! How about the press conference where the PM is trying to take credit for the fact he was somehow in the dark when $100 million dollars of taxpayers money was stolen. That was a press conference for the ages!! Chretien's press conference was even better, he challenged the present PM's memory when it came to the sponsorship scandal.

Thanks Jim. I find that the people who hate me (or to be more accurate are intimidated by me) are those that are unable to think for themselves and are thus welded to one particular ideology or party line.

Those people that love me are the people that enjoy working with a capable results orientated individual or just like my witty personality.

The news conference, which is only one of hundreds I have organised over the years not only achieved its intended result, it was so effective that it stopped the Bob Russell team's anti-Indo Canadian campaign dead in its tracks. That is why some folks are still whining about it two years later.

Posted by Mike Geoghegan on November 21, 2005 01:19 PM

Stop Bob Russell dead in his tracks? Maybe.

Is stopping a lightweight like Russell and accomplishment? Maybe, but only for a PR lightweight.

Did the press conference damage the overall objective? Hell yes.

Posted by Scott on November 21, 2005 01:48 PM

Yes Scott you are right, it not only damaged but crippled your overall objective of trashing the Indo-Canadian Community in the media.

Suck it up tinkerbell and move on.
