A legend in his own time?

It is oft said that history is written by the victors. But it turns out the defeated can also make a contribution via Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia whose articles are written and authored by ordinary Internet users. Consider this example: an entry detailing the epic story of re-running Victoria Civic Electors mayoral candidate Ben Isitt. Weighing in at 510-words, including sections on Mr. Isitt's early life and later life, the article describes him as a "Canadian socialist politician" whose left-wing views became "radicalized" following a backpacking trip through the United States. Surely another Che Guevara in the making! And who might be the author of this screed? Well, according to Wikipedia, the entry was written and has been repeatedly edited by a user named Veenoghu. Coincidentally (and somewhat entertainingly), veenoghu@uvic.ca is listed as being the email address for Morgan Stewart, who was recently described by brother muckraker Russ Francis as "a long-time ally, adviser and general confidante" to the candidate (Mr. Stewart just calls himself Mr. Isitt's personal secretary).

Look at the Wiki entry for Victoria's current mayor, Alan Lowe--it says almost as much about Isitt than Lowe! Hmmm, I wonder who wrote that one?

Though apparently Isitt is credible enough to gain support from Carole James. see

Gotta love the new NDP!

When of when will Victoria and British Columbia be able to wipe Morgan from the bottom of its shoe? Seriously has this guy ever held a real job? He was full of crap when he was at UVic and he's still full of it. A world led by the likes of Morgan would be a very scary place indeed.

Only neocon sock puppets would buy what your're selling.

What's the story in this ? Sadly, the apathy on anything municipal !

It's ridiculous that Mr. Stewart should be the only net-izen interested in coining the bio's of Alan and Ben. Just as ridiculous as Ben having to run twice JUST BECAUSE nobody more senior or electable has the canoles to run again Lowe.

I say again: what's the friggen story ? SO WHAT if Morgan wrote the articles, they're friggen WIKI's, freely editable content don't you know. That means, for those Lowe supporters reading this, that you owe your own point of view to take five minutes out of your busy schedule and edit it as you see fit!

Don't you know that right winger's have such a narrow mindset they had to get someone to invent loafers so they wouldn't tax their brains so much tying up laces?

RWD:

I'm more miffed at Sean's lack of orginality ... biased WIKI articles are hardly new, and completly preventable, if those with countering perspectives feel like contributing !

That's the story for me, why are Lowe supporters so lazy ? I suppose they rightly hold some compatency, due to the lack of any viable competition to Alan's camp (with all apologies to Ben).
