The in-boxes of those who work in the public eye are often stuffed with emails from masked ranters - complaining about this or that policy. Those emails are often best ignored and deleted. But it looks like outgoing Vancouver mayor Larry Campbell decided last week to take the bait. In an email sent to the mayor, a ranter identified as phoebe poofay wrote "Every street I turn down, there is a picketer. Maybe if people were paid better, then they can get back to work. I swear that nobody works in Canada." To which Mr. Campbell eventually replied "Thank you for your kind comments. They are so deep and original. I suspect it must have taken a long time for you to string all os (sic) those words together. Again, all of my thanks Pheebe (sic)." The following is a complete copy of their mildly amusing exchange.

So glad that you are leaving office soon. You don't deserve a new post!

I am not your baby. Maybe you should go in search of the perfect world. No reply required.

It's the truth, baby!

A rather cynical view.

Every street I turn down, there is a picketer. Maybe if people were paid better, then they can get back to work. I swear that nobody works in Canada. The ones that do work are getting shit pay or lawyers representing the picketers.
Larry Cambell is awesome.
Lucille, I doubt you are the first Liberal to welcome Larry to the Party.
All this explains why we like Larry! Ok, one of the many reasons why I like Larry. The rest of you can speak for yourselves.
Ahh...
You know, for all his lumps, in the end, I suppose I really do like Larry Campbell.
Larry's great on a bar stool, but not so much on a blog. His witty ripostes will serve him well enough in the Senate. Zzzz.
Clearly Mr. C. is using WiFi to great advantage in interminable meetings and/or that watering hole across the street that all those folks that sleep with ephemeral beings like to frequent so much.
Where's the profanity?
Use of profanity is the best outlet for tension and hard feelings. Tell somebody to fuddle duddle and they are out of your life...for the moment.
Don't go so soft on us.
Stick it to the man or woman as the case may be.
In todays Globe there is a reader's poll on Condi's statement that "the word of the American government is as good as gold". 92% of 15,000 readers disagreed with that in a center right paper.
Give em hell Larry.
We finally have a senator that will get somethings done, just like he said he would. If they don't get done, Larry will no doubt go elsewhere. He will sit as a liberal because nobody could see him as a Conservative and of course the NDP has a position on senators. They don't support unelected representatives.
A voice of reason in the place of sober second thought will be refreshing
92%?
Is that all?
I guess there has been some penetration of the Canuckistani market.
Sure hope that doesn't mean that 8% among us are now choosing intelligent design.
