Earlier, Public Eye reported rumours that Non-Partisan Association members have been courting former provincial Liberal cabinet minister Christy Clark to run as the Vancouver civic party's mayoral candidate. Longtime association operative Marty Zlotnik's name has been attached to that recruitment effort. But, when Public Eye reached Mr. Zlotnik today and asked about those rumours he said he had "no comment."
In related news, if Ms. Clark did decide to run and won the mayoral nomination, Larry Campbell could find himself trapped in a particularly challenging political puzzle box. The former mayor promised to support Vision Vancouver candidate Jim Green's bid for Terminal City's top elected job. But it was Liberal operative Mark Marissen, Ms. Clark's husband, who engineered Mr. Campbell's appointment to the Red Chamber.
Please do run for Mayor Christy.
We need something lively for a change -
- not to mention someone to clean up the streets of Vancouver. Just think how much fun this would be - and so fitting a tribute to Larry for his "many positions".
Christy Clark is a Terrific Person for Mayor of Vancouver. Vancouver Needs Change and I Have Firm Belief Christy will do just that. I'm Confident that Christy will Bring Back the Public Intrest and Make the City Enjoyable Again.
Go Christy!!!
Christy Clark for Mayor of Vancouver?
Wasn't it just less than a year ago she announced she was leaving politics to spend more time with her son?
I certainly hope this isn't true. If it is, let me just say I think it is appalling that someone would use her child for political purposes one day, and ask the voters to conveniently forget about that the next.
Let's see, an overly ambiti failed provincial cabinet minister, resident of a Vancouver suburb
Peter A. Ker, why on earth would you, or for that matter Marty Zlotnick, be promoting a Christy Clark candidacy?
I Think Christy's the Best Person to Run the City. Look at Jim Green he is a Menace and He'll Do No Good for the City. Christy Will Improve the Quality of Living for the City of Vancouver and Allow it to Evolve!
Peter,
Get real. Christy was an average cabinet minister with no real failures while in government, but no notable accomplishments either, other than raising her own profile in the hope of succeeding Gordon Campbell. She has not had any career outside of politics and has not completed her university degree. If you believe that makes her qualified for Mayor of Vancouver, then you'll get what you deserve.
I'm Pretty Sure Christy be the Leader of the Liberal Party of British Columbia and First Minister of British Columbia. But She'll Do So Much for Vancouver.
Oh yes, another Liberal hack to run the city.....wonderful. When will people wakr up and smell the coffee that the Liberals are destroying all they try to run!
I just read this on the front page of the Sun, so it must be true!
Vancouverites should be very afraid of the prospect of this liberal egomaniac running their city-VERY AFRAID!
Why would she run for Vancouver, doesn't she live in PoCO?
