The Bachelorette

Former provincial Liberal cabinet minister Christy Clark may not be joining CKNW as the station's afternoon talk show host. But she's had been entertaining a lot of other job opportunities in the run-up to the November civic elections. When asked whether she had been approached about running as a mayoral candidate for the Non-Partisan Association, Ms. Clark said "I have been asked to run to be mayor of Port Moody, the mayor of Burnaby, the mayor of Coquitlam and the mayor of Vancouver." And she's turned them all of the offers down. The reason: because, Ms. Clark joked, "What I really want to be is mayor of Whistler." A version of this article was originally published in today's edition of 24 hours.

Why can't anyone believe that all Christy wants to do is spend time with Hamish and take some time away from politics? We all know she won't stay away forever...it's not in her...but let's give her a few years without being asked about her intentions so she can focus on her son!

I'm sure she does want to spend time with her son but CC has not exactly stayed out of the public sphere. She turns up everywhere, radio, tv, etc. and it's usually to do with politics (liberal apologist) which, imo, makes the questions fair game.

To be fair, you can still want to be in the spotlight and NOT want to be a politician.

The two aren't tied to the hip.

I know how many hours politicians (aspecially the good ones) work. It is insane, and the travel is unreal.

As a parent I can see where she is coming from.

So what if she wants to remain visible: We all know that there are big things in store for her in a few years.

Personally, I think the federal libs could use this kinds of leadership waitnig in the wings.

"To be fair, you can still want to be in the spotlight and NOT want to be a politician.'

Of course you can, but lets be realistic here. Everyone know CC loves politics, she's in the media talking about politics and has let it be known that in the future she'll be back in politics. I don't have a problem with CC being visible and spending more time with her kids, and I doubt she's even surprised she's being asked. She probably likes the attention and profile it gives her anyway.

The original poster him/herself admitted CC can't stay away from politics. I'm just trying to figure why I should feel bad for CC that people want to know what her future political aspirations are? Some politicos would be thrilled that half as many gave a s*** about their careers.

Personally, I could care less what she does, politician or not, and can't believe I've even spent this much time on the subject.

I think her ambitions are pretty clear.
But, you think she should annouce 5 years before the race?
Brilliant!

Well, no, but then I never said that, did I? She doesn't have to answer the questions at all, if she doesn't want to.

She doesn't seem to be discouraging the speculation though. Note the "Mayor of Whistler" quip.

Again, I'm just saying that I'm not surprised she is being asked.

I went to school with Christy at SFU and she was amazing. You could see that she was totally driven and ambitious. She was in one of my political science classes. I think we had about twenty students in the class so I got to know her pretty well.

People forget that she was Jean Chretien supporter and she was one of the leading figures in the federal liberal leadership race.

I can say that she LOVES the attention and it is in her blood to be in the public eye.

She is a total politician.
