It looks like perpetual enthusiasm machine Jeff Bray may not be the only failed provincial Liberal candidate getting a post with the Campbell government. The afterhours whisper mob claims Viriginia Greene, who ran and lost in Vancouver-Fairview against smoothie king Gregor Robertson, will be joining the public affairs bureau and possibly heading the operation. Greene, the president of Go Direct Marketing Inc., comes equipped with civil service credentials, having previously been an assistant deputy minister of tourism during the eighties.
Virginia Greene is someone certainly to watch for the next few years. It is certainly a wise move to keep her in the government.
I would have liked to see Graham Bruce and Joyce Murray working with Jeff Bray. It saddens me to see Graham and Joyce leaving the legislature. They did however leave with dignity. After all, they did play an important part in the turning around of BC economy.
I would have liked to see Daniel Igali in the government as well. While that did not happen, I hope that he and other fallen BC Liberal candidates can stay active in their communities and challenge the NDP 4 years from now. I wish the best to all those who tried and had yet to succeed. Good luck to them.
