Campbell wins gold medal Olympian

On Saturday, Surrey Now's Ted Colley reported, "Premier Gordon Campbell wants to sit down with former Olympian Daniel Igali this weekend to talk about the gold medallist's political future. Igali said yesterday he will decide soon whether he will run as a Liberal in the next provincial election." But Public Eye understands that decision has already been made and Mr. Igali will be announcing he's running for the provincial Liberals in Surrey-Newton shortly, likely this coming Friday or Saturday. Our spies add the party is waiving many of its nomination rules for Mr. Igali. The riding's nomination meeting is set for March 5.

I predict Daniel Igali will be pinned to the mat by Gordon Campbell's record. Igali will be in a full nelson trying to explain the BC Liberals' four years of ignoring Surrey. Harry Bains will win the gold medal for the NDP on May 17.

So the guy won a medal or so a few years ago . Does that qualify him to be a MLA? I guess so under our present system.

Seeing that the deadline to file papers to contest a March 5 nomination was last night, I think this alleged sit down is a bit late.

Well, Daniel Igali has lost my respect. I thought he was great during and after the Olympics. Why a man with such a good name would align himself with a proven liar like Gordon Campbell is beyond me. I hope he comes to his senses soon!

Good move, Gordon. I cannot wait to see what other candidates he has in his pocket. I'm sure he has a few more cards in him. What a great timing to have an Olympics Gold Medal athlete working for Gordon who himself brought the Olympics to Vancouver. Speaking of minority groups though, it makes me laugh to think of the ill-fated Mr. Democracy.

Frank, sorry to burst your revisionist like bubble, but Gordo himself, did NOT bring the Olympics to Vancouver. As a matter of fact, I believe the process was started by a much maligned, former premier of BC... whats his name again, oh yeah, Glen Clark.

Clark was the one who got the ball rolling on the idea of having the 2010 Winter Olympics in Whistler and Vancouver. He was the one who started the leg work, and the preliminaries to get the bid approved by the Canadian Olympic Committee, and it was the NDP government that put the process in motion in the first place. All Gordo did was take a winning proposition and see it through to the end result. And surprisingly, upon winning the bid, the Great Gordo himself was the first one to mention the work started by Clark, and to thank the people who got the ball rolling in the first place.

If you want to sing Gordo's praises, Frank, at least do it with the shower curtain closed ok?

Kegler: Enough already! Once is all we needed-- Kinda like Gordo's one term of absolute power.

Ha Ha Daniel is perfect for Gordo & Co. He is a wrestler after all. How else to get the working poor and downtrodden of BC to accept their policy? Just Bully em!

Gordon Campbell is such a moron. He did not learn after getting his ass kicked in Panorama, to get a candidate that would be attracted to the ethnic mix of the riding. Who does Gordo think he is? Vince McMann of WWE, maybe he should have gotten "George The Animal Steel, or Eugene. Folks Gordo is going to turn our legislature into a professional wrestling entertainment, and have control over his MLa's like Vince McMann manipulates his wrestlers.

Hey did you hear the rumour about Gordo is also bringing in the former Iraqi Information Minister to handle the press for the BC liberals. This Premier is such a joke, then what do you expect from a drunk'n and a liar.

Your right he is perfect for the Liberal party. He is someone who has set goals for himself in life and worked hard to reach those goals. Like many Liberal supporters he doesn't believe in the race to the bottom that the NDP supports. This is a man who has overcome many hardships in life to get where he is now and someone like Man Kind is mocking him. Sorry Man Kind not everybody wants to remain on the bottom. Just because you work hard and strive to do something with yourself doesn't mean you should be the object of ridicule, but I guess that’s the NDP way.

At least Igali's voice will be easy to recognize when Gordon asks him to call in during Gordons pre-election brainwashing tour.

"Ok folks we have the Premier taking calls - we have Danny on line 2."

Bongo: There are a lot people in the Province that have overcome adversity, set goals for themselves and done well. I disagree that his achievements in life parallel those of the Liberals. Igali did it through hard work and perseverance. Campbell did it through lies, deceipt and on the backs of the poor. There's a big difference.

The continued blind, spiteful stupidity of people on these boards is breathtaking. Intelligent, decent people can and do have differing political views.

The continued asinine ramblings of people from both sides of the spectrum on this board who denigrate people for having different views is pathetic and more than a little anti-democratic.

So now Daniel Igali is a piece of shit because he's not a New Democrat? Is it entirely impossible to seperate the person from their views?

The poor guy Igali thinks Campbell's Liberals are somehow aligned with the Chretien Federal Liberals, who allowed him to emigrate to Canada. Boy will he be surprised when he runs into the tons of rednecks that proliferate this right wing non-inclusive party.
