Babble rabble-rouser Tim Kennelly is reporting former federal Liberal non-candidate Tony Nobody, who earlier announced he would be running for the provincial New Democrat nomination in Burnaby-Willingdon, has had his nomination papers rejected. Our spies add award-winning Chinese media commentator Gabriel Yiu will now be running for the nomination in that riding. He's a new entry to the race, perhaps introduced to avoid charges of racism. Official confirmation of this news is pending.
Ha!
Here is the democracy and fairness of the NDPers!
Blocking poor'lil Tony Kuo, just like the big mean Fiberals!
Hypocrites anyone?
Cheers
Newman
Would you not expect a candidate for any political party to be a believer in the constituition and policies of the party they are going to run for? For Kuo to run for the New Democrats is like a ship sailing with a flag of convenience.
Someone who can't decide between the Campbell Liberals and the New Democrats is not a quality candidate for either political party.
Flags of convenience? I thought we were talking about provincial Liberals, not CSL!
Flag of convenience? Talking about Gordon Campbell?
or is Gordon Campbell's caucus, which is 75% of them Tory / Socred rejects or retreads.
Or, just maybe, the poster actually meant that the constant flipping of party's was like switching flags when its convenient. Perhaps the Liberal reference was just an added benefit...
All the same, Kuo needs to get his act together, I think. Going on vacation the day you announce, and leaving only (I think) one week to campaign? Selling of memberships is not an indicator of a successful campaign.
The Socreds of old would have been a good party for Kuo. They were a party with the primary purpose of keeping the CCF/NDP out of office. They were individuals who came together under a "flag of convenience" called the Socreds. When their "ship ran aground" their supporters "jumped ship" to the BC Liberals (with Gordon Wilson at "the helm").
Kuo said he was not sure if he was going to seek the nomination for the BC Liberals or the New Democrats. That is a candidate who is looking for a "flag of convenience" to sail under.
The nautical terms are simply analogies to illustrate the point that Kuo needs to set his sails in one direction and maintain course.
The NO DEMOCRACY PARTY Strikes Again.
New'ester is absolutley right.
If one can't choose which party to run for (BC Liberals and the BC NDP) then they ought to run for neither.
New'ester is absolutley right.
If one can't choose which party to run for whether it's the BC Liberals ot the BC NDP then they ought to run for neither.
People change their political stripes, but contemplating running for both shows little to know principles. And that's the sort of person who shouldn't be running for public office.
Isnt there a Democratic Reform Party that was formed recently? He probably forgot to mentioned it when he was considering his options. So Mr. Democracy, if you hear me, try out for that party too, they probably have some kind of discount for signing up 500 members at a time for their new opening.
