Yes, we know the next federal election is probably two years away. But it could also be six months around the corner. And that explains why some New Democrat organizers are already looking around for someone...anyone...who can ensure Comrade David Turner doesn't run again in Victoria. According to one campaigner, the party might have won the riding if they had a "woman rather than a goateed man" on the ballot. The campaigner was too polite to say so, but Public Eye is pretty sure there were more problems with Mr. Turner then his facial hair. And who's going to make those problems (and the twice-defeated candidate) go away?
Survey says one possible option is Victoria city councillor Denise Savoie (or so the rumour goes). Ms. Savoie was evidently approached about running against Mr. Turner prior to the most recent nomination battle. But a lukewarm response meant Greater Victoria school board chairwoman Charlie Beresford was recruited instead. And now some are hoping Ms. Savoie will take a second look at the riding.
If you are going to pose as the inside man then you should identify your sources. This is cheap shot BS and an insult to David Turner, Charley Beresford and Denise Savoie. Identifying your sources might tell us more about why this campaign was lost than the managed spin that is being employed!
